I'm a huge fan of art. I went to check out the new exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum named Who Shot Rock & Roll. It was various photos from past to present taken by some famous photographers, some not so famous. Unfortunately, there were no photos allowed to be taken.

I just love a pair of new sneakers. Yeah, I can rock a pair of high heel at times, but there's something about a pair of fresh kicks. I spotted these at TJ Maxx in the city, the only pair in size 9, which would be me. I made no hesitation of the purchase.

Last night at Crash Mansion in New York was the annual Prince vs. Michael Jackson party. Who is the better artist? I would have to say that is a personal opinion. I would be partial to Michael Jackson. The fabulous DJ Spinna took to the turntables and made the night filled with all things Prince and MJ. I danced the night away as some of my MJ favorites were played such as Thriller, Lovely One and Wanna Be Startin Somethin. The crowd went bananas when "Thriller" went on, everyone equally lost it when "Nasty Girl" was played. It was a battle indeed. The crowd was filled with many of Jackson's fans, as many rocked some sort of MJ fashion. I spotted some Prince gear as well. Spinna made the crowd go wild when he played "Wanna Be Startin Somethin". At the end of it, he kept playing back ma ma se ma ma sa ma ma coo sa. There was singing, screaming and clapping, that was the high light of the night for me. I thought I would have headed to the exit after that, then "Got to be there" went on. It's a party where one really doesn't want to leave because the next track will be as good as the last one. I finally walked out at 4:05 am as the lights to the club went on.

Michael Jackson was brilliant. The singing, the dancing.
My top 5 Jackson 5 songs.

2. Ain't no Sunshine
3. Ready or Not
4. (Come around here) I'm the one you need
5. Girl, don't take your love from me

There are so many reasons why I love Brooklyn. I'm a Brooklyn native, born and raised in Bushwick. I look back on my youth and appreciate that I had the opportunity to witness so many elements of the borough. I'd walk through block parties, listening to the first sounds of hip-hop and disco. Kids played outside. Boys played skelly, girls played double-dutch. When I talked about being from Bushwick, I'd get a uncertain look or pause or a really? Times have certainly changed.
